An Easy Day Out for Families at Dekkersvlei

We are proud to announce three new offerings that mark an exciting evolution for our vineyard and makes for an easy day out with the family. We have curated a kid-friendly, zero-alcohol tasting menu, a wood-fired pizza oven, and a dedicated play area where our younger visitors can explore and unwind while you settle in and savour the moment.

We Welcome the Whole Family

Wine vineyards are often seen as adult-only spaces, but families are part of everyday life, and we see no reason they should be separated. Many of our guests arrive with children in tow, and over time we have listened carefully to what families want: a space where adults can enjoy quality wine and food, while children are included, engaged, and comfortable

Introducing Our Kid-Friendly, Zero-Alcohol Tasting Menu

One of our most exciting additions is our zero-alcohol tasting menu for children. Inspired by the structure and presentation of a traditional wine tasting, this menu allows younger guests to feel part of the experience in a way that is inclusive, and fun.

Each tasting is thoughtfully curated, featuring a selection of flavour-forward drinks such as fruit infusions, sparkling juices, and seasonal blends. These are served in tasting portions, with attention paid to colour, aroma, and taste. For children, it becomes a playful introduction to sensory exploration: noticing sweetness, freshness, and texture.

For parents, this means you can enjoy an immersive, shared experience without feeling guilty. The Dekkersvlei Kids’ Pairing features:

Three refreshing drinks:

• Red grape juice

• White grape juice

• Iced tea

Three sweet treats:

• KitKat

• Chocolate brownie

This offering has already proven to be a hit with families over the 2025 festive season.

Wood Fired Pizza: Simple Food, Shared Joy

Food has a way of bringing people together, and our new wood-fired pizza oven does exactly that. Set in an open, outdoor space, the oven adds warmth, aroma, and a sense of casual comfort to the vineyard.

Our pizzas focus on quality ingredients and uncomplicated flavours. Crisp bases, well-balanced toppings, and a wood-fired finish make them appealing to adults and children alike. Whether you are sharing a classic margherita with your family or pairing a slice with a glass of wine, the experience is well worth the drive.

A Play Area for Your Little Ones

Perhaps the most meaningful addition for parents is our dedicated children’s play area, right next to one of the tasting areas. Designed to be safe and visible, and integrated into the vineyard.

It blends into the natural surroundings of the farm, inviting kids to climb, explore, and interact with their environment. Parents can enjoy their wine tasting or meal with peace of mind, knowing their children are having fun.

Shaded seating makes it easy for grown-ups to keep an eye out while still taking a moment for themselves, whether that’s with a glass of wine, a chilled drink, or a much-needed coffee.
