Dekkersvlei Vineyards: A Legacy Reclaimed
First established in 1693, Dekkersvlei Vineyards is one of the oldest working wine farms in the Paarl region. The estate’s soils have nurtured vines for over three centuries and its story is as rich and layered as the wines it produces, including the world’s first White Pinotage – a refined white wine made from South Africa’s signature red grape. This pioneering spirit lives on at Dekkersvlei today, where our White Pinotage remains a cornerstone of our cellar and a must-taste experience.

From the moment you enter, the atmosphere is welcoming, relaxed, and beautifully curated. Tastings are offered in several stunning locations – indoors, outdoors under shaded trees, or in the atmospheric underground cellar. Guests can choose between a selection of 3, 5, or 7 wines, with the option to pair with a cheese box.

Dekkersvlei Wine Tasting: Taste the Original
No visit is complete without experiencing the “Taste the Original” wine tour – a rustic, immersive look into the story of the estate and the making of its signature wines.
Offered hourly for up to 20 guests, the tour is led by members of the Dekkersvlei team – some of whom have lived on the farm for decades – adding a unique depth of storytelling and authenticity to the journey.
Your 15-minute walking tour includes:
- Cellar & Distillery Exploration: Step into the heart of our winemaking spaces.
- Vineyard Walk: Visit blocks of Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, and our prized 70-year-old bush vines.
- Wine Tasting: Enjoy a curated 3-wine tasting, including our exclusive White Pinotage, offered both room temperature and chilled (when available).
