Rooted in South African heritage, this signature red is bold and expressive. Ripe notes of dark berries and subtle spices lead into a smooth, smoky finish, reflecting the land, the vine and the craft behind every bottle.
Tasting Notes:
Bold and beautifully balanced, offering dark berry richness, subtle spice, and gentle smoky undertones. Its smoothstructure and long, satisfying finish speak to the harmony between vineyard expression and careful winemaking.
Food Suggestions:
Excellent alongside flame-grilled meats, lamb chops, venison, and braai favourites. Its bold fruit and subtle smokiness also enhance roasted vegetables, mushroom dishes, and flavourful curries with mild to medium spice.
Vineyard:
Sourced from the Klein Drakenstein slopes in Paarl, rooted in structured clay-granite soils that enhance depth and balance.
Harvest:
The grapes were hand-harvested in mid-March during the coolest hours of the day, using a combination of earlymorning and selective night picking to preserve maximum freshness. Each bunch was carefully hand-selected to ensure only the finest fruit reached the cellar. The vineyard delivers a concentrated yield of approximately 8 tons per hectare.
In the Cellar:
Following a whole-bunch press, fermentation featured regular pump-overs for optimal extraction and balance. The wine spent 12 months in second-fill French oak, building refined tannin structure and subtle spice while preserving the varietal’s rich dark fruit expression..
